The Story

In August of 1969 Al Rider opened the doors to Rider's Fine Traditional Clothing located in the heart of downtown Elizabethtown, KY. From humble beginnings the business grew and in a few short years was thriving and allowed Al to open a second store in Elizabethtown. Originally Rider's was exclusively a men's clothing store. Many of the wives of Al's clients were so impressed with the quality of clothing and the exceptional way they were treated by the staff of Rider's that they requested Al to start carrying women's apparel. In 1979 the purchase of the Perry-Alvey building allowed Al to move both of his stores under one roof and provided the necessary space to add clothing lines for women. Through the years Al Rider has experienced many things from the economic recession of the 1970's, to the growth of shopping malls and through it all Rider's has thrived. By staying true to his convictions and always providing excellent service and selection Rider's has become "A Better Specialty Store."
