The Tailor

In this day and age having an onsite tailor is almost unheard of and is just one more way that Rider’s is a “Better Specialty Store.”

Charles Welling’s journey as a tailor began in 1972 as an apprentice to Henri Behnan the former official tailor to President Sukarno of Indonesia. From there Mr. Welling’s career has taken him to several states and held many highlights. From running his own business, to working for major clothing lines, to being the official tailor for the Canadian exhibit at the 1982 World’s Fair in Knoxville, TN. Mr. Welling’s winning smile, gracious attitude and exemplary skill and craftsmanship with a needle have kept his customers coming back. In 1999 Mr. Welling brought his talents to Rider’s and his presence here has of course been a perfect fit.
